Abnormal Vessels
Thickened blood vessels with enlargement in the region
of the eyelids and the orbit.

This can occur within the whole body.
Alterations which are recognizable at the eyelids
characterized by abnormal blood vessels and can extend
far into the orbit.
Often even pulsations and whooshing are hearable.
In advanced cases this can lead to dysfunctions of the
eyelid and the eye.
Restriction of the field of view, ptosis, entropion,
ectropion, pricking of the ciliaries and aesthetic
problems may occur.
If there is a bigger extension into the orbit, eye
muscles can be affected and delimit the movement of the
eyes, so that diplopic images occur.
If the abnormal blood vessels encase and „smother“ the
optical nerve, even blindness can develop.
Diagnostically, an ultrasound-examination or MRI with
contrast agent is helpful.
In dependence of the depth of the affected structures,
one can stop extension by laser- and/or cryo-therapy in
combination with eyelid- and orbital surgery.
