Lagophthalmus
Incomplete eyelid-closure.

A lagophthalmus is not an autonomous disease, but it is
a clinical finding which occurs in connection with many
diseases.
These diseases can be systemic ones, as e.g. myasthenia,
ichthyosis, porphyria, diseases of the thyroid gland or
locally a paresis.
Furthermore problems of eyelid-closure develop by
accidents, as e.g. injuries caused by windscreens, burns
by fire as well as chemical burns.
In addition to unguents which help locally, an
improvement can only be reached by surgery.
