Levator Paresis
Either sides
missing
levator muscle
activity.

Both upper eyelids cover the pupils. It is a severe form
of the congenital ptosis.
Both levator muscles do not show any activity and the
natural furrows of the lids are not developed.
The child stretches the head backwards to be able to
“look out” the very close palpebral fissures. This
forced posture can cause additional damages to the
cervical spine.
A suspension of the frontal muscle leads to a surgical
improvement of the opening of the lid. This surgical
method is highly established if it is indicated and
applied in the right way.
